ELF Cosmetics Review: Part 1

Wow. Finally.

I have been planning to post a review on ELF cosmetics about a month ago. I have been putting it off but today is the day!

Basically, I have heard quite a few good and very bad reviews about ELF cosmetics. ELF (Eyes Lips Face) has a range of very affordable makeup. And when I say affordable, I mean affordable with a capital A. There makeup ranges from $1 to $6. This is excluding their gift sets which can go up to $50.

Anyway, I thought I would give their makeup a shot. I ended up buying about 20 dollars worth of stuff, plus I got a free makeup palette!

I won’t be doing a review on all the items I bought just because after trying a few of them I became baffled to the point of staring idiotically at myself in the mirror asking, “what the hell was that supposed to do?” Meaning, it was probably useless and therefore a waste of time to review.

Well ladies and (maybe) gents, here is the review:

ELF Blushing, Bronzing and Blending Brush

Cost: $1   Rating: 1.00/5.00

If you’re looking at the above picture and thinking, wow that looks really cheap. You’re not wrong. It is cheap. It cost me a dollar. It also feels like I bought it for a dollar. For one thing, the bristles are so rough it feels like tiny branches scratching my skin. Secondly, it blended terribly. I might as well have used my fingers.

ELF False Natural Looking Lashes

Cost: $1  Rating: 1.00/5.00

When I read “Natural Looking” all I can say is Ha! No offense ELF but this is far from natural looking. It looks like quite plastic and feels it too.

ELF Blending Eye Brush

Cost: $1  Rating: 4.00/5.00

Love this! I use it all the time now. For a dollar, I gotta say it is a pretty good investment. The brush is very soft and very useful for blending.

ELF All Over Cover Stick

Cost: $1  Rating: 2.00/5.00

This didn’t blend very easily to my skin. It also was a lot smaller than what I though it would be. It is as big as my index finger, and I’ve got small fingers. In terms of coverage, it didn’t do a great job.

ELF Brightening Eye Color in Silver Lining

Cost: $1  Rating: 4.00/5.00

I was surprised at how very well pigmented this is. The color goes on quite strong on the eyelids and you only have to use a little bit for a considerable application.

Natural Radiance Blusher in Innocence

Cost: $1  Rating: 4.50/5.00

I was disappointed at how small this blush was but the way it looks when it’s applied makes up for the size. It comes on light and very natural. Usually light blushes such as this don’t show up on my skin but this does!

By the way, it is a slide compartment so I sat for a few pathetic moments trying to flip it open. (-_-)

So there you go! My verdict for ELF is, most of their products are worth the one dollar. Just don’t have high expectations when you are buying from a company that is selling their products for one dollar. I was actually impressed about how much I like some of their makeup. I use a lot of it every day.
